Andre IU (34), striker of the Ghana national soccer team, who faced Korea at the 2022 Qatar World Cup, wears the English Premier League (EPL) Nottingham Forest uniform.

Nottingham announced on the 3rd (Korean time) that they had signed IU as a free agent (FA) through the club website. His contract lasts until this season.

IU, who made her professional debut in 2007 in Marseille, a French professional football club, has since played for Swansea City, West Ham United (above England), Fenerbahce (Turkey), and since July 2021, Qatar’s prestigious Al Sadd.

As the captain of the Ghana national soccer team, he has played 113 A-matches and participated in a total of three World Cups. At the World Cup in Qatar, he started scoring in the group stage match against Portugal and also played against Korea.

Coincidentally, the newly established Nottingham is also the original team of national striker Hwang Eui-jo.

Hwang Ui-jo, who scored double-digit goals last season as a member of Bordeaux in the French league, signed a contract with Nottingham, which was promoted to the EPL last summer, and then moved to Olympiacos, a prestigious Greek team run by the same owner, on loan for one season. Hwang Eui-jo, who fell into sluggish performance at Olympiacos this season and was classified as out of power, is set to return to Nottingham next season.

Nottingham, which is aiming to stay in the EPL this season, recruited IU before Hwang Eui-jo returned to strengthen his offensive power.

If IU succeeds in renewing the contract by showing impressive performance for the rest of the season, competition with Hwang Ui-jo is inevitable in the new season. 먹튀검증
