Hanwha Eagles Moon Dong-ju became the first Korean player to break the 160km limit.

Moon Dong-ju started the 2023 KBO League KIA Tigers match held at Kia Champions Field in Gwangju on the 12th and threw a ball at 160.1 km/h against Park Chan-ho at the end of the first inning.

This is the highest speed ever for a domestic player since the introduction of PTS (Pitch Tracking System) by Sports 2I, the official KBO recorder, in 2011.

The highest speed by a Korean pitcher right before Moon Dong-ju was 158.7 km per hour, recorded by Choi Dae-seong (then Lotte) on September 7, 2012. Second place is 158.4 km recorded by Ahn Woo-jin (Kiwoom) on September 30, 2022.

Moon Dong-ju recorded his personal best speed of 156.2 km against Daegu Samsung Lions on the 6th, his first game of the season, and threw 160 km with an additional 4 km per hour that day.

Now, Moon Dong-ju is challenging the KBO league’s best restraint. Currently, this record is held by Redames Leeds (former LG outsider) who threw 162.1 km against SK Wyverns (now SSG Landers) on September 24, 2012.

Meanwhile, Moon Dong-ju pitched well with 3 hits, 6 strikeouts and 2 runs in 6 innings of the game. 토토사이트
