“I am proud of myself as a one-club man.”
Indonesian national football team coach Shin Tae-yo was selected as the third-generation inductee at the ‘K-League Hall of Fame’ held at the Ambassador Pullman Grand Ballroom in Jangchung-dong, Seoul on the 2nd.
Director Shin’s recommendations include his two sons, Shin Jae-won (Seongnam FC) and Shin Jae-hyeok (Ansan Greeners), who are active on the professional stage following his father’s path, and went directly to the stage. Coach Shin won the K-League championship six times while playing for Ilhwa Chunma, and recorded 99 goals and 68 assists in his K-League career. In 2003, coach Shin Tae-yong was the first player in the K-League to reach 60 goals and 60 assists.
Shin Jae-won said, “I liked soccer and became a soccer player following my father’s path. An ambitious goal to become a good player. I feel how great the road my father has walked is. After scoring the winning goal in the opening game, Seongnam fans sang a cheering song with my father’s name. I will try to become the best player who surpasses his father not only in his skills but also in ceremonies.”
Shin Jae-hyeok also said, “I think it will be difficult for anyone to break 2 or 3 consecutive championships in 13 seasons, and being included in the best 11 9 times. It seems to be the most regrettable thing that he retired after putting 99 in his league career. He didn’t take a penalty kick to keep his promise to the fans and his 100th goal to score a field goal. He was later told that he regretted that he was just going to take a penalty kick. When I get a chance to take a penalty kick, I will make sure to take it.” ㅋㅋㅋ벳
Coach Shin said, “It is the 40th anniversary of the K-League, and I am grateful for the new award. I am grateful to my two sons for recommending it. He is in charge of the Indonesian national team, and he also serves as a K-League evangelist. He also talks a lot about the K-League to Indonesian players, and he cites mentality as a part of being able to advance to the 10th World Cup. I think he is standing in this position because he made a name for himself in the K-League rather than the national team. I will do my best so that the K-League can develop further. It wasn’t something I did alone, it was possible because of my colleagues. He emphasized that he is proud of doing his best in the K-League as a’one-club man’.”
